Stark choices

Deuteronomy 30:19

I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God's blessing and God's curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life.

Joshua 24:15 AMPC

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

It's impossible to drift through time without making choices.

We choose what to wear, what to eat, when to get up and go to sleep.

We choose what to watch on TV and who to befriend.

There are, however, more stark choices - choices that effect our destiny and future - here on earth and forever.

British people are known for their ability to "sit on the fence" so that no one is offended!

"Tolerance" and "compromise" form an unwritten national creed.

Dare to speak out on things like Biblical marriage and abortion and you will soon be shut down.

Compromise, however, is the devil's playground.

God, in His Word, calls us to make stark choices that cut through the lie that "anything goes".

His Word sets out clearly the distinction between good and evil, life and death.

Today, morals are upside down and back to front. It could well be said of us:

Isaiah 5:20-21 AMPC

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! [21] Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent and shrewd in their own sight!

Christians need to "brace up" and make God choices and not be afraid to speak out, even if it causes offence.

Today it is offensive to say that there is only One way to know God, but Jesus boldly stated it:

John 14:6 AMPC

Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.

The most important choice any of us will ever make is the choice to accept or reject Jesus.

There is no in-between!

Choosing not to choose is also a choice!

Choose Life and all the other choices will come into focus.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33
