Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. [2] Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Have you ever walked past someone in the supermarket and winced at their smell? In response, you make sure that you don't get in the queue behind them, don't you? You can tell where they've been because they leave a rancid stink behind wherever they go!
None of us want to be a stench in the nostrils of those we meet, do we? That's why we wash, change our underwear, use deodorant and perfume.
But what about our spiritual hygiene - what aroma are we exuding into God's "nostrils"?
Do I stink of resentment, bitterness, pent up rage, unforgiveness, greed, selfishness, bigotry or irritability?
How long since is it since I changed my spiritual underwear from moaning to praising, from indifference to unconditional love?
Now there's a thought...
How many "closet sacrifices" have I made that are pleasing aroma to Jesus - not ones preceded by a personal trumpet blast, but one that only God knows about.
Matthew 6:4 NLT
Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Do I smell of worry? That too is a stink in God's "nostrils"!
Matthew 6:34 NLT
"So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.
Being grateful and thankful is an alluring fragrance for our Heavenly Father.
That's the kind of perfume the Lord wants us to wear on a daily basis.
We should ask ourselves "Do I smell?" and take appropriate action to ensure we're nice to be around both for God and humans!
Get washed regularly in the Blood of Jesus, wear His garments of praise.
Let us "smell of Jesus"!
2 Corinthians 2:14-16 NLT
But thank God! He has made us His captives and continues to lead us along in Christ's triumphal procession. Now He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. [15] Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. [16] To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?
Selah! Shabbat Shalom!
