Proverbs 31:8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. 9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
Back in the 1980's I became a member of SPUC [Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child]. It was during the time when an Act of Parliament was being introduced to allow abortion up to birth.
I went to a conference and learned about the horrendous "routines" used in carrying out the death of unborn babies.
Today, as I read the Proverb above, I was put in mind of the unseen slaughter of tiny babies carried out globally in hospitals which, in effect, have become killing centres.
If you google "what happens during an abortion" the NHS will never mention a foetus. They do everything to de-humanise the baby by calling it a "pregnancy." https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/abortion/what-happens/
Now, they are considering making it illegal for any form of protest or prayer to be done outside an abortion clinic.
The NHS fails to mention the psychological, emotional or even physical side effects of aborting a baby.
Consider this: at the same time as someone is having an ultrasound image of their developing baby and excitedly anticipating the arrival of a new member of their family, someone else, in the same venue, is treating their child like a cancer to be removed!
Harsh words indeed, but, these babies have no voice, no one to speak up for them, no chance of life.
Women may chant: "my body, my choice", but the fact is, at conception, the baby has a separate DNA from the mother - a separate entity.
Read what happens in an abortion https://foundationsoflife.org/facts-about-abortion/abortion-procedure-facts/:
Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): between 13 to 24 weeks after LMP
This surgical abortion is done during the second trimester of pregnancy. At this point in pregnancy, the foetus is too large to be broken up by suction alone and will not pass through the suction tubing. In this procedure, the cervix must be opened wider than in a first trimester abortion. This is done by inserting numerous thin rods made of seaweed a day or two before the abortion. Once the cervix is stretched open the doctor pulls out the foetal parts with forceps. The foetus’ skull is crushed to ease removal. A sharp tool (called a curette) is also used to scrape out the contents of the uterus, removing any remaining tissue.
Dilation and Extraction (D&X) (partial-birth abortion): from 20 weeks after LMP to full-term
This procedure takes three days. During the first two days, the cervix is stretched open using thin rods made of seaweed, and medication is given for pain. On the third day, the abortion doctor uses ultrasound to locate the legs of the foetus. Grasping a leg with forceps, the doctor delivers the foetus up to the head. Next, scissors are inserted into the base of the skull to create an opening. A suction catheter is placed into the opening to remove the brain. The skull collapses and the foetus is removed.
Fellow Christian, ask yourself this "How does Jesus feel about this?" We have just celebrated the birth of the baby Jesus. Yet, if abortion had existed in those days, would Mary have been encouraged to do away with Jesus, by her parents?
The womb is God's workplace, forming a human being, it's "work in progress" for the Creator. It should be the safest place for a baby to be. Yet, in this day and age, it is probably the place where a baby is most at risk.
I'm sure most of you would have recoiled in horror at the abuse and death of 6 year old Arthur and 16 month old Star recently in the news. Yet what could be as callous and cruel as "Once the cervix is stretched open the doctor pulls out the foetal parts with forceps. The foetus’ skull is crushed to ease removal?" It's cold and calculating and hidden behind hospital walls.
During the Holocaust, people were encouraged to think of Jews as less than human. There were propaganda films and publications comparing Jews to rat infestations. Perhaps that is how Hitler's army were able to carry out the mass murders that we find so inexplicable and horrific?
What the NHS calls "a pregnancy" or "product of conception" is a baby in progress. Don't let propaganda lull us into dehumanising it. We were all once humans developing in our mother's wombs.
Many of you will find this offensive, I'm sure, but speaking up for those who have no voice is recommended in scripture. I make no apology for stepping on toes and telling the truth.
Father God, forgive us for callously closing our eyes to the silent slaughter of children yet unborn and help us wake up and speak up on their behalf.
Selah
