Psalm 34:18 NLT
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Recently, many of our friends are experiencing grief and bereavement - losing dear loved ones.
It's hard for them, grief does isolate and shut the doors on normality.
It's a kind of emotional solitary confinement which is tough to penetrate - words seem futile - sympathy a small sticking plaster on a gaping wound.
However, the faithful promise of the Lord is that He is close to those whose hearts are broken.
Yes, each ticking moment, He is closer than the air they breathe.
Pray for those you know who are in deep distress today. They may feel unable to pray - so let's stand in the gap - and hold them to Jesus.
He's the One who has plumbed the depths of all sorrow in His Passion:
Isaiah 53:3 NLT
He was despised and rejected — a Man of Sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
Hallelujah for such a Saviour!
