SHOUT!

Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. 3 Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his.[*] We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Psalm 100

Yesterday I had duplex printer problems! Each time I tried to print a tax return the reverse side was just a mass of black lines!

After destroying what it seemed to be half a rainforest in spoilt paper and searching well meaning, but useless YouTube's for help, I went to update the driver.

...Still no difference - grrr!

The last resort was to update the firmware - the which I did.

Then I tried another attempt - as the reverse side came out perfectly I let out a joyfully long shout: "Y-E-A-H!!!!"

We can search and search for the answer to life and death. There are well-meaning theories to distract, but only when we download God's firmware and Jesus makes us right, it's a moment of ecstatic joy.

Here in this Psalm we are encouraged to shout before the Lord in praise and gladness. Why?

Don't we have far more to shout about than when that Psalm was written?

Now we KNOW that Jesus has beaten death and forgiven our sins - once and for all.

When the Psalm was written Jesus' redemption was just a promise in prophecy!

Still the Psalmist was so thrilled with wonder that he shouted out in praise.

How much more should we!

Whatever you're going through, the Lord IS going to bring you through to His eternal home where we'll sing and shout for joy.

Being a football fan, there have been times when I've returned from matches with a sore throat having shouted for my team - just for winning a football match.

The victory of Jesus over the grave isn't transitory or trivial - it's everlasting - don't you think He deserves a massive shout of praise this morning?

We're the sheep of His pasture - shout Hallelujah!
