Where are you headed?
When you set out for a place you've never been before, today, you probably set your GPS (satnav) in the car.
It gives the overall map of the journey and then produces unique directions along the way.
A voice will tell you what to do next and warn of any delays.
If you make a wrong turn it will re-route you to get you back on the right path.
But, not all satnavs are that reliable.
I recall travelling to Luton airport late at night, being diverted off the M25 into London because of roadworks - UGH! The yellow diversion signs took me round in circles.
Then the satnav went into meltdown and took me to a dead end - I ended up in front of someone's garage in North London, at 2am. I phoned my nearest & dearest and he suggested to ask someone! "Not at this time of night and not in an unknown London street", I snapped, into my mobile.
Desperate to find my way, I prayed and changed to my smartphone and Google maps.
Still going in circles, finally, I dispensed with the GPS and followed directions for Waltham Abbey, as I'd seen that turn off on previous M25 journeys.
I was so relieved to see the blue M25 sign again and made it to pick up my nearest and dearest at about 3am - in a tired and frazzled state!
Diversions and confusing signs are all along our way in our spiritual life too.
If we don't fix our destination on Heaven we will drift all over the place.
The Bible supplies the overall direction for our lives, telling us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Satan will try to divert our attention, saying that we're too narrow minded, be open to other ways, or even say that there isn't any way there at all - it's all "pie in the sky when you die"!
Hebrews 12:2 AMPC
Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Shut out the voice of this world's GPS and heed the leading of the Holy Spirit - He will guide us into all truth - Jesus promised it.
John 16:13 AMPC
But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
Remember where you are going and stay focused on God's directions.
Philippians 3:20-21 AMPC
But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as Saviour, [21] Who will transform and fashion anew the body of our humiliation to conform to and be like the body of His glory and majesty, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself.
