Science fiction becoming fact

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 AMPC

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first. [17] Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord! [18] Therefore comfort and encourage one another with these words.

Growing up I was a Star Trek fanatic - the "proper" original one - with the real Mr Spock - not the endless imitation ones!

Many things that were fiction back then are now fact.

The communicators that they flipped open have become our smart phones and the spaceship's automatic doors which opened when approached, we now take for granted in our shops.

We do have laser beam weaponry being tested which are like phasers and police use tasers that can stun criminals - which mimic "phasers on stun"!

As yet we haven't reached the "transporter", "beam me up Scotty" stage.

When Paul wrote to the Thessalonians about Jesus' "Appearing" it must have sounded like incredible fantasy - how could that happen?

Yet this is what we are taught in God's Word.

At a time which only the Father knows, believers in Jesus will be "beamed up" - transported to meet Him in the clouds ... I've used Star Trek language ...!

At that point all those who've trusted Jesus (alive or departed) will be given their new transformed eternal bodies and will forever be with Him.

However, many Christians dismiss this as allegorical because it sounds so far from our present reality.

Often we're so earth-bound, used to the norm, we forget that Jesus was always transcending the natural - turning water into wine, walking on water, raising the dead, calming the storm etc etc.

So, please believe God's Word - The Rapture is something which WILL happen and we are to expect it at any time as Jesus taught.

Hallelujah!
