Psalm 69:1-3 NLT
Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. [2] Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can't find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. [3] I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me.
Aren't you glad that there are sad Psalms that speak to the our feelings of frustration and despair?
Many times I've visited these Psalms and used them as prayers when my own words failed me.
The Bible is full of help for every situation and feeling.
The Word made flesh, our loving Lord Jesus, knew sadness and sorrow in the extreme, sweating great drops of blood in Gethsemane. He needed to be strengthened by an angel in order to endure the Passion of the Cross.
He even prayed Psalm 22 from the agony of the Cross!
Psalm 22:1 AMPC
My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?
There is no shame in undressing our emotions before the Lord. He can take even the ugliest of our prayers.
The worst thing is to cut ourself off from His Help.
So go ahead and tell God if you feel down and hopeless.
He is the "Lifter of my head"... such a beautiful "word picture" of our Heavenly Father placing His Hand under our chin and bringing our gaze to meet His Compassionate Eyes.
Psalm 3:2-3 AMPC
Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! [3] But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
When your hope is lost and strength fails, tell it to Jesus.
Help is surely on the way.
Father, thank You that I don't have pretend that I'm ok. You know me and are familiar with all my ways and still You love me.
