Sacrifice diminished


Psalm 34:3 AMPC

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.


The focus has been on the UK Prime Minister cutting short his visit to the Normandy commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D Day.


The surviving veterans were rightly hurt that their own and their fallen comrades were so snubbed.


That he could walk away and let others deputise for him throws a light on his valuation of their total commitment to the victory over Nazism.


His priorities lay elsewhere - choosing instead self aggrandisement.

I wonder if this is indicative of the sad spiritual state of our nation.


Look after number one above all else.


Jesus said:


John 15:13 NKJV

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.


As we surveyed the vast number of pristine graves, marking the young men mown down in defence of freedom, did it touch our hearts? Were we grateful for their sacrifice?


What about the greatest sacrifice of all - the God-nan Jesus laying down His own Life so we could have forgiveness and hope of eternal life?


Do we walk away as if it's insignificant?

"I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His Life for the sheep.


Never forget, never cease to be grateful from the depth of our beings for each sacrifice and the greatest one of all.
