Hebrews 13:15
Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.
Psalm 51:17
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Do you ever wake up, seemingly, with the weight of the world on your shoulders - all aches and pains shouting for your attention? Then you feel like me this morning!!
The last thing I feel like is praising the Lord. That's where the sacrifice comes in - to know that God is worth thanking all the time.
He made the sunrise and gave us air to breathe and eyes to see creation and ears to hear the birdsong.
He gave us a critical faculty so we can understand things.
He gave us free will so we can choose.
He gave us the ability to laugh and to love.
Above all He gave us forgiveness and eternal salvation through Jesus' death on the cross - and an everlasting home awaiting us in Heaven.
We have much to praise and thank God for.
So I'm lighting the fire of praise, starting with the "tinder" of thanks and building to "logs"of slow burning gratefulness on the altar of my heart this morning as a sacrifice, hopefully, to last throughout this day.
Just because I feel lousy it doesn't mean God has changed.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
That doesn't mean He's boring, no way! But we won't wake up one morning and find He's stopped loving us and turned His face away from us.
His love and faithfulness are perpetual, never fading, never endingly steadfast.
Through praise I remind myself of these facts of faith and brand them onto my inmost being.
Prayer
Jesus thank you for putting up with me through all the seasons of my life. May I always know that above the clouds of earthly trials the sunshine of your love never stops.
Let my praise be like incense - a pleasing fragrance to you.
