Rescued!

2 Corinthians 1:10 AMPC

[For it is He] Who rescued and saved us from such a perilous death, and He will still rescue and save us; in and on Him we have set our hope (our joyful and confident expectation) that He will again deliver us [from danger and destruction and draw us to Himself]

The red and white coastguard helicopter is often seen flying across our horizon. It's either coming from or going to a rescue mission out at sea.

Especially in the summer, when holidaymakers get into difficulties swimming in rip tides at Camber Sands, those missions are life and death affairs.

Sadly, there are some deaths each year when they don't make it in time.

Those who have been plucked from death will be so very grateful to their rescuers and rightly so.

Jesus came on the greatest rescue mission of all:

Luke 19:10 AMPC

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

Like those heedless swimmers on Camber Sands, many are oblivious to their perilous position.

Carrying on life without any thought of eternity, they are unaware that they need to be rescued.

Then life serves up a "curve ball" (something such as a question or event that is surprising or unexpected, and therefore difficult to deal with) - something that wakes up from that oblivion.

This is a blessing in disguise.

Until I realise I'm lost and in danger I cannot be saved.

When the Holy Spirit turns the light on and shows up my danger, I can cry out for help.

Jesus is My Rescuer in every situation - ever present, ever willing to reach out and save.

He's our Rescuer!
