Matthew 24:6-8 AMPC
And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place; [8] All this is but the beginning [the early pains] of the birth pangs [of the intolerable anguish].
Those rumbling "rumours" are certainly evident in the earth today as Jesus' Words, spoken on the Mount of Olives, daily ring ever more true.
The turmoil in the Ukraine seemed to come out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise over a year ago - just like unexpected labour pains.
Then yesterday, the rebellion threat against Putin suddenly seemed to shake Russia to its foundation.
The world's regimes are unstable and tottering.
We have Ukrainian friends in Israel who are separated from close family dealing with the ongoing conflict. It's so heartbreaking for them every day.
Here is a recent WhatsApp message:
"We are okey how it’s possible. Very sad news from Ukraine all the time it’s makes us sad. By the way. Yesterday Victor's sister visited my father I was so happy to see them together."
Real people, real suffering - it is such a challenge to remain unafraid and untroubled, but that is what Jesus commanded.
Nevertheless, our prayers for those caught up in the crossfire of world events are real too - we are not powerless as we connect with the Living God.
Prayer really does change things.
Don't be overwhelmed, pray childlike simple requests to bring God's help to the helpless.
Psalm 7:9 AMPC
Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the [uncompromisingly] righteous [those upright and in harmony with You]; for You, Who try the hearts and emotions and thinking powers, are a righteous God.
Amen and amen!
