Ezekiel 1:26-28 NLT
Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a Figure whose appearance resembled a man. [27] From what appeared to be His waist up, He looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from His waist down, He looked like a burning flame, shining with splendour. [28] All around Him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the LORD looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone's voice speaking to me.
Revelation 4:2-3 NLT
And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. [3] The One sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones-like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled His throne like a rainbow.
Revelation 10:1 NLT
Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire.
A viciously ingenious way to hurt someone is to take something sacred to them and drag it through the mire.
In both Old and New Testaments we see that God's Presence is dressed, surrounded by rainbow colours.
That brilliant rainbow is like a halo hue about His Throne.
Satan, a fallen angel, is well aware of that fact. He would have been familiar with it, before his pride caused him to be thrown out of that Celestial place.
How devilishly apt then, that "pride" and "rainbows" have been adopted as symbols of lifestyles which God forbids and abhors.
Satan arrogantly and spitefully brandishes the rainbow emblem in rebellion against Almighty God.
He deceives people, who God loves, into believing lies about themselves and hence despoiling their lives.
As Believers in Jesus, may we see the rainbow as sacred to the Lord and realise the unseen spiritual war being waged against Him by satanically inspired forces.
We will worship around God's Throne and marvel in wonder at the colours of His "Reign-bow"!
