Psalm 131 TLB Lord, I am not proud and haughty. I don’t think myself better than others. I don’t pretend to “know it all.” I am quiet now before the Lord, just as a child who is weaned from the breast. Yes, my begging has been stilled.
O Israel, you too should quietly trust in the Lord—now, and always.
I love the stillness of the early mornings. Somehow, at this time of year, all of nature breathes out serenity and calm beauty.
We are so blessed with the view from our kitchen window - looking up at the Roughs all decorated with mature trees in full leaf.
I've deserted my pillow, for the time being, for the kitchen to have my daily devotions - but "the Word from the Sink" doesn't have quite the same ring to it!!
Staring at the stillness of the garden - the birds start to arrive at feeders.
The baby birds never cease to keep bothering their parent - clamouring for more and more food.
They flutter their tiny wings and open wide their beaks... "more, more, more" they chirp!!
It put me in mind of myself - it seems that I never stop fretting before the Lord about all the details going on in the world around me.
There's a time to ask, yes, but there's a time to cease and just be calm and quiet before God - being happy in not knowing, but being cherished near to God's heart.
Hear the words of the old hymn:
There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God, A place where sin cannot molest, Near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, Sent from the heart of God, Hold us, who wait before Thee, Near to the heart of God.
There is a place of comfort sweet, Near to the heart of God, A place where we our Savior meet, Near to the heart of God.
There is a place of full release, Near to the heart of God, A place where all is joy and peace, Near to the heart of God https://youtu.be/MhO_ShSATUo
