Prey for the devil!

1 Peter 5:8 AMPC

Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

There it was, written large on the side of a passing bus: "Prey for the devil"....

It caught my attention at the time, but more so right now at 4am!

If you've watched "Frozen Planet", recently on TV, you will have seen baby seals, baby penguins and even baby polar bears fall prey to predators like large male polar bears, or killer whales.

In their innocent ignorance these vulnerable young creatures are unaware of the lurking danger and carry on as if all is well, only to be suddenly, savagely devoured.

Without parental protection these infant animals are easy pickings.

The passage above describes the prowling purposes of the devil, eager to devour and destroy humanity.

Without Jesus, we too become "easy pickings" - prey for the devil.

Don't play around with even the semblance of evil.

It behoves us to run for cover to the protection of the Lord Jesus, where He will hide us and keep us safe.

These are indeed dangerous days.

Don't be like the baby polar bear, thinking you can go it alone.

Stay close to the heart of God.

Nestle in, so you can hear His loving voice and receive His Protection and Provision.

Isaiah 26:3-4 AMPC

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. [4] So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].
