Preventing Break-ins

Luke 12:39-40 AMPC But of this be assured: if the householder had known at what time the burglar was coming, he would have been awake and alert and watching and would not have permitted his house to be dug through and broken into. [40] You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour and a moment when you do not anticipate it.

Even the rich and famous suffer break-ins - recently it happened to the Beckhams: The thief broke in an upstairs window at the Holland Park mansion, West London. They ransacked a bedroom for designer valuables with the family still at home. David, Victoria and Harper were relaxing downstairs completely unawares. The break-in was discovered by Cruz, 17, upon returning home from a night out.

Like Jesus says in the passage above, if they had known about the break-in, they could have taken called the police and stopped the theft.

Jesus is giving a solemn warning about always being ready for Him.

I just thought about the treasures Jesus has poured into my heart, through the Holy Spirit. So many rich blessings and understandings accumulated over the years - all stored in my heart.

These are too precious to be left unguarded. What is more valuable than my salvation and relationship with Jesus?

Nothing!

I mustn't be caught off guard, much like the Beckhams, pleasing myself, unaware that my spiritual life is being ransacked by the evil one.

It's so easy to be distracted in this era. There are so many things clamouring for our attention which are not essentially evil, but deter us from the best - the One Thing!

Psalm 27:4 AMPC One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

The one thing that matters is being in the Presence of Jesus, close to His Heart. This is the treasure to be protected at ALL costs.

I say to my soul, seek Jesus' closeness above everything else. It's the only safe place.

Psalm 27:5 AMPC For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:8 AMPC You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
