Psalm 37:18-20 NKJV
The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. [19] They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. [20] But the wicked shall perish; And the enemies of the LORD, Like the splendour of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away.
There's much talk of scarcity and danger in these chaotic times.
Evil plots are being hatched behind closed doors by those in positions of power and influence.
They bargain without the sovereignty of the Living God whose eyes are everywhere.
This precious Psalm speaks of how the Lord preserves those who trust Him and follow His ways.
It begins with the premise "fret not" when evil and evildoers seems to prevail.
Easy to say, harder to do, especially when in the thick of bad events.
Yet experience and history proves that wickedness has a short life.
Look at Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi and latterly Yaya Sinwar and Nasrallah - all breathing out hatred, violence and threats of annihilation - yet they came to sudden destruction - often ignominious deaths.
Psalm 37:12-15 NKJV
The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth. [13] The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming. [14] The wicked have drawn the sword And have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay those who are of upright conduct. [15] Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.
How should we, as followers of Jesus, react in these evil days?
Trust in the Lord and do good.
Psalm 37:3-4 NKJV
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. [4] Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Whatever the situation we are called to that straight path of trusting our Heavenly Father's perfect timing.
Those are the terms and conditions that apply in our lives.
Don't forget to tick that box! ☑️
