Pierced
Zechariah 12:10 AMPC
And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favor and supplication. And they shall look [earnestly] upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Last night we made a puny attempt at making matzah bread to have the Last Supper for me and Pesach for my nearest and dearest.
Matzah is used during the Pesach meal. There's no yeast and it comes out like a cracker biscuit.
After rolling out the dough, it has to be pierced on both sides with a fork before placing it in a very hot skillet until it is crisp and a bit burnt on both sides.
As I was repeatedly piercing the dough, I thought of Jesus being pierced for me in the Cross.
Its very symbol made me tear up! Just a simple thing like that struck me anew of the sufferings of Jesus.
At present, the majority of the Israelis and Jewish people around the world do not recognise Jesus as their Messiah, although the number of Messianic Jews is growing at a fast pace.
But, as the passage above prophecies, there is coming a day when they will look on Jesus and see Him for who He is.
It will be a time of regret for not seeing what was plainly in view. A sadness of rejecting and even reviling Him.
