Persistent Search

God is a persistent Search and Rescuer.

Jesus made it very plain through His parables that God doesn't give up on you or me.

No one is a lost cause in His eyes.

Luke 15:8-10 NKJV

"What woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? [9] And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbours together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' [10] Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Yesterday I watched curiously from the corner of my eye as my nearest and dearest emptied the waste basket by his desk and bit by bit was laboriously going through the rubbish.

He was obviously searching for something and getting more and more frustrated in the process!

Finally I said: "What's the matter?"

"I've lost one of my hearing aids!" he retorted sharply.

As he'd only just received these he was anxious not to ask for a replacement so soon.

Of course I joined the search, even using the app on his phone to locate it. Still no success.

We knew it must be somewhere in the house as he'd had them last thing at night and it was early morning...

I'd half given up when I heard a joyful: "Here it is!"

It had fallen down behind his desk and the wall, obscured by an extension lead.

That hearing aid was so vital to my hubby that he wasn't prepared to give up until he found it.

Even that pales into insignificance with how persistent the Lord is, via His Holy Spirit, in pursuing each of us, until He tracks you or me down.

Jesus is on our case. He's determined to find us because we are vital to Him. His family isn't complete without you or me.

You may think you don't matter to God, but, He's a persistent searcher.

Like the woman in the parable, He's putting on the floodlight of His Word so you and I can see and be seen and hence found.

The Lord and His angels are ready to throw a party to celebrate when you and I come back in repentance.

Has God thrown a party for you yet?
