Isaiah 66:12-14 AMPC
For thus says the Lord: Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; then you will be nursed, you will be carried on her hip and trotted [lovingly bounced up and down] on her [God's maternal] knees. [13] As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. [14] When you see this, your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like green and tender grass. And the [powerful] hand of the Lord shall be revealed and known to be with His servants, but His indignation [shown] to be against His enemies.
God's Peace is not a fragile treaty of ceasing hostilities.
Nothing like when Neville Chamberlain returned from visiting Hitler, waving an agreement and saying: "Peace in our time"!
Look how that turned out...
Oh no! It's like a river, freely ever flowing!
I've been privileged to see many mighty rivers in full flow in Canada and the USA. It's amazing to stand and watch all the debris that stands in its path washed to one side, or carried faraway.
So with God's Peace, overcoming the turmoil and confusion in our lives, turning it to one side like driftwood.
Hopefully, each one of you, also will recall your mum, comforting you in the middle of the night, when you were poorly.
Just today, a special mum told me she'd been up at night with her little one who was feeling poorly.
So with the the Lord. He comes with sweet comfort to our lives, whatever our needs are.
I, for one, often fail to stay in the river of God's peace and get washed up on the shore of all the debris of this world's fears and conflicts.
I also forget to stay in God's comforting Arms, where He can hold me close and guard my life.
So I say to my soul: "Time to get back into the River and onto God's Lap and stay there!"
Ephesians 2:17 AMPC
And He came and preached the glad tidings of peace to you who were afar off and [peace] to those who were near.
God's Peace is just a prayer away.
