Ephesians 2:14-16
For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in His flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in Himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which He put to death their hostility.
This chapter is a brilliant description of our new life in Jesus.
Old barriers of religion broken down so that we can be face to face in a loving relationship with our Creator.
No more rituals, no more separation between races or male and female - on the cross Jesus did a demolition job of cosmic proportions!
We have an old shed in our garden, it has been repaired and propped up to the "nth" degree, but it's not up to the task anymore ... So it is going to be demolished in order that a new one can be put in its place.
The Old Covenant with its rules and regulations wasn't up to the task of reuniting us to God, rather it made us aware of how far and separate we are from Him.
Jeremiah 6:14 [a little out of context]
They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace.
The New Covenant that Jesus made in His own body and blood brings us Peace, real peace with God and man.
It is truly A-M-A-Z-I-N-G grace.
This old song celebrates Jesus our peace:
Whatever you're going through, however tough, Jesus is there for you - He is your peace in every circumstance. Let Him break down every barrier that's been erected to keep out His Peace and give all your cares to Him.
