James 5:7-11
Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. 8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.
9 Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door! 10 For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 We give great honour to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.
Patience, now that's something that doesn't come naturally, to me at least!
My nearest and dearest is quick to point out that I'm too eager to get going on some task or other without taking stock!
All the signs are in place for the imminent return of Jesus, but we are told to wait with patience and warned of suffering that will precede His Return!
Patience, endurance and suffering, not something to relish, but the Lord alerts us to the harsh realities that await us.
If we open our eyes we see the rise of totalitarianism in global governments.
There are so many threats to our freedom on the horizon.
Standing up for truth won't win any gold medals in many walks of life today.
So I tell my heart to be prepared, watch and wait Jesus is coming!
It will be worth it!
"It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ
One glimpse of His dear face all troubles will erase
So bravely run the race till we see Christ".
Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.
