Passover

But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.

Exodus 12:13

Today Good Friday falls on the same day as Passover.

Israelis and Jewish people from around the globe will sit down for the "Pesach". (Passover) meal.

The Seder (ceremony) retells the story of the Exodus, when the Lord miraculously delivered the Hebrews from harsh slavery in Egypt.

A perfect lamb had to be slaughtered and its blood put on the doorposts to ensure that the angel of death passed over the Hebrews. Those families in Egypt without that blood lost their first born sons.

That was the Old Covenant.

The night before Jesus was crucified, He shared that Passover meal with His disciples.

During the meal He told them He was making a New Covenant in His own body and blood.

No more lambs needed to be killed each year.

He is THE perfect, sinless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Those that share in His body (Jesus is THE Bread of Life) and blood will not taste Death and Hell.

The good news of Good Friday is that Jesus paid our sin debt in full.

Just simply believing and receiving Jesus' eternal sacrifice sets us free from Death and slavery to sin.

We don't see Jesus' Passion as a tragedy, we see it as a fulfillment of forgiveness forever.

Amazing love, how can it be, that You my God should die for me!

John 19:1-2,16-18,30 AMPC

So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged (flogged, whipped) Him. [2] And the soldiers, having twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on His head, and threw a purple cloak around Him. [16] Then he delivered Him over to them to be crucified. [17] And they took Jesus and led [Him] away; so He went out, bearing His own cross, to the spot called The Place of the Skull-in Hebrew it is called Golgotha. [18] There they crucified Him, and with Him two others-one on either side and Jesus between them. [30] When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
