I trust in the Lord for protection.
So why do you say to me,
“Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!
2 The wicked are stringing their bows
and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings.
They shoot from the shadows
at those whose hearts are right.
3 The foundations of law and order have collapsed.
What can the righteous do?”
4 But the Lord is in his holy Temple;
the Lord still rules from heaven.
He watches everyone closely,
examining every person on earth.
5 The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked.
He hates those who love violence.
6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked,
punishing them with scorching winds.
7 For the righteous Lord loves justice.
The virtuous will see his face.
Psalm 11
The onslaught and relentless attacks against the Ukrainian cities are overwhelming.
The foundations are literally being destroyed in towns that only two weeks ago were peaceful places.
It must be so tempting to runaway and give up.
What can we, so faraway, do, when we see such anguish and suffering.
This Psalm echoes that sentiment.
Yet we see how the Lord isn't ignoring the situation. He examines the hearts and "hates those who love violence"!
Watching speeches given by the Russian leaders, it truly seems as though they are loving the war they have waged.
I tell myself, don't look away, but look to the Lord to intervene.
He is still in charge, He is still in the business of protecting people.
Father God, You don't stand aloof in this war, You are very much with those who are outnumbered.
Give supernatural help to the fight and protection to those crying out to You. In Jesus' name.
