Overshadowed

Mark 9:7-8 NKJV

And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" [8] Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.

The overshadowing clouds of trouble can suddenly interrupt our lives at any given moment.

Then circumstances are turned upside down and dramatically impact everything.

It may be that the Lord is trying to speak to us and the only way He can get us to really listen is via that cloud!

Peter had been garbling on about making booths for Jesus, Moses and Elijah, when the overshadowing cloud came and God spoke to identify Jesus as His Beloved Son.

It was as if The Father said: "Shut up Peter and listen!"

Our gibberish words are futile before the Living God.

We'd better just "zip the lip" and hear His Voice.

Another overshadowing is the work of the Holy Spirit birthing something amazing in our lives....

Just imagine Mary's wonder when the Holy Spirit overshadowed her to conceive Jesus in her womb!

The work of the Holy Spirit is clouded in mystery and fearful in awesome power ....

He's the Brooding Spirit of Creation hovering over chaotic waters... bringing light out of dark places.

That was the first thing that happened on Creation's Morn:

Genesis 1:1-4 NKJV

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. [3] Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. [4] And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

It may seem very dark and empty in life, but that very void may be God at work - brooding and about to speak His Creative Word overshadowing everything else.

He will bring Light out of darkness at just the perfect time.

Trust Him.
