Our Passover Lamb

Exodus 12:5,7-8,13 AMPC

Your lamb or kid shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; you shall take it from the sheep or the goats. [7] They shall take of the blood and put it on the two side posts and on the lintel [above the door space] of the houses in which they shall eat [the Passover lamb]. [8] They shall eat the flesh that night roasted; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. [13] The blood shall be for a token or sign to you upon [the doorposts of] the houses where you are, [that] when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 53:1 AMPC

Who has believed (trusted in, relied upon, and clung to) our message [of that which was revealed to us]? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed?

John 1:26,29 AMPC

John answered them, I [only] baptize in (with) water. Among you there stands One Whom you do not recognize and with Whom you are not acquainted and of Whom you know nothing. [29] The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Look! There is the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!

The first Passover Ceremony, instigated by God, was where the Hebrew people in Egypt, sacrificed a perfect lamb and put the blood on doorposts, to ensure that the judgement of the Lord would "pass over" them and save them from death.

All this was a foreshadowing of Jesus - The Lamb of God, our perfect eternal Sacrifice, who came to take away our sins and give us eternal life.

Jesus celebrated the Passover meal the night before He died.

He told the disciples plainly that His flesh was the unleavened bread that they ate and the wine that they drank represented His blood of the new covenant He would make on the cross.

Luke 22:19-20 AMPC

Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. [20] And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.

Thank Our Father God, that by His Spirit, He has revealed Jesus as Our Lamb of God - we can be saved only through His eternal Sacrifice.

No shadow remains over Passover for those who believe in Jesus.

We are gloriously set free by His Body and Blood.

And Jesus said this bread is My body, broken, broken for you

And Jesus said this wine is My blood poured out in covenant anew

And each time you take this Holy Feast you tell how I have died for you

And you are nourished by My love and My eternal life breaks through
