Our oppressive faults

Galatians 6:3-5 AMPC

For if any person thinks himself to be somebody [too important to condescend to shoulder another's load] when he is nobody [of superiority except in his own estimation], he deceives and deludes and cheats himself. [4] But let every person carefully scrutinise and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbour. [5] For every person will have to bear ( be equal to understanding and calmly receive) his own [little] load [of oppressive faults].

Being saved doesn't mean being perfect.

Of course, it's our aim and Jesus exhorts, encourages onwards to be like that:

Matthew 5:48 TPT

Since you are children of a perfect Father in heaven, become perfect like Him.

Sadly, in this life, perfection is only an ambition, and not achievable - but, when we see Jesus, face to face, will we be made like Him.

1 John 3:2 NKJV

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Obviously, there will be some blessed and miraculous transformation when we see Jesus face to face.

But, for now we have to bear some oppressive faults of our own.

This keeps us humble before the Cross of Jesus - always reminded of what it cost to save us.

Yes, it is difficult wrestling with impatience or a quick temper, but the Holy Spirit is chipping away at our rough edges as we let Him into more and more layers of our lives.

Each of us, as believers and followers of Jesus, is a work in progress.

When we were having our new conservatory built, it was a messy business.

We couldn't see how it would end up at the start.

There was demolition, and piles of rubbish in the skips that had to be removed.

Now, looking at the finished result, it's hard to remember the chaos and hard work involved.

That's how it will be when we see Jesus!

The old hymn says:

"It will be worth it all

When we see Jesus

Life's trials will seem so small

When we see Christ

One look on His dear face

All sorrows will erase

So bravely run the race

Til we see Christ"
