Mark 5:36
Only believe!
This word was beating in my heart all night.
Of course it comes after Jairus had the most dreadful news about his daughter - she had died while Jesus was delayed (healing the lovely shy lady who had been haemorrhaging for 12 years).
Who wouldn't have given up by then?
Our incredible Lord Jesus encourages him to keep on believing!
Jesus hears but chooses to ignore the loud voices in the crowd.
How often the loudest voices are the negative ones.
Jesus takes only His closest disciples with Him on the journey of faith.
You won't find a crowded road as you journey on in hope against hope.
Yet at the end, Jairus is rewarded for his faith in Jesus, he had the most tremendous miracle - his daughter was restored to life.
What dream has died for you? Has there been something you felt God had promised, but now it seems the light has gone out and it's impossible to see how it can be turned round.
Remember Joseph and his dreams (Gen 37:5, 9), but then look what happened to him:
* Hated by his brothers he was sold into slavery in Egypt;
* Falsely accused of rape, he was thrown into prison;
* Forgotten by someone he helped, he kept believing and doing the right thing!
The reward for "hanging on in there" was unimaginable: from prison to 2nd in command of Egypt - a truly amazing leap of faith. It was 13 long, arduous years between the dreams and the fulfilment!
BUT God is faithful, what He promises, He delivers on. Selah.
You too may have been "in it for the long haul" holding on to some dream that the Holy Spirit put in your heart.
Don't fear, only believe!
