Old ways

Jeremiah 6:16

This is what the LORD says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

In today's world we have thrown off restraint and call good evil and evil good, just as it was in Isaiah's day:

Isaiah 5:20

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Standing up for God's ways means holding out against public opinion, being branded as a bigot and old fashioned!

It is a society in which the "old ways" are treated with contempt - everyone is encouraged to discard values which have been long cherished as being good and fundamental to family life.

However, In order to fight against God's inate laws, a person has to harden their heart to block out that inner voice of conscience.

That's why the protestations against biblical marriage and pro-life stances are so violent and aggressive.

Yet Christians didn't write the boundaries of relationships, God did.

He knows what is best and healthy for us to prosper as human beings. So He set out ways for us to live and relate to eachother.

These are not barriers to freedom, His laws are there to prevent us falling into danger, much like a fence around a hidden, deep well.

Shout as loud as we like, but there is no real heart peace outside of God's way.

Even if murder is legalised via abortion or euthanasia, it will never be morally right.

In the same way, "changing" gender can never alter the DNA of a person. It is written in every cell of that person.

It is because Jesus loves us that He prescribes The Way, The Truth and The Life to live by.

In fact He IS that way. Follow Him.

Take courage, look for and stand for what is right - God's ancient path and walk in it.

Dare to be unpopular! But do it in a loving way.
