Nurture

1 Peter 2:2 AMPC

Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation

It's been an amazing time for us watching the local foxes.

First we just saw the father fox coming to the garden time and time again to pick up food and take it away.

Sometimes he came back and forth up to 10 times.

Later we found out why -  he had 5 hungry mouths to feed. Then he brought them to our garden and showed them where to find food.

Now they come on their own and feed themselves.

Doing some Google research on foxes, it's amazing to discover how they are quite a loving community.

Older foxes, siblings born into the pack previously, help feed the cubs too.

For the first 2 weeks the cubs depend on mother's milk, they are blind and deaf. Gradually, their eyes & ears open.

Then they begin to venture out from the den and are taught to fend for themselves usually by the father fox.

It should be a picture of the family of God.

When we first become Christians, we are very helpless and rely on the Lord (and our mothers and fathers in the faith to feed us spiritual milk).

As our eyes and ears are opened to the truth of God's word we need to be nurtured by other believer's who are further along the road with Jesus.

We all have a role to play in helping each other to grow up in the faith.

Let's be a loving "pack" and help each other along the Way to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bring those that are spiritually blind and deaf. Feed them the good news of Jesus until they can see and hear the Truth for themselves. Then they can begin to mature and bring others to Him!

It's sad to note the not many fox cubs will survive beyond 10 months. They may starve for lack of food, be run over by a car, culled by humans or succumb to disease.

Let's be good nurturers over those that are young in the faith and ensure that young Christians not only survive, but thrive!

Let's take our example from the Lord:

Psalm 103:13 AMPC

As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe].

For He knows our frame, He [earnestly] remembers and imprints [on His heart] that we are dust.

As Jesus said to Peter - Feed My sheep! John 21:15-17
