Not a five minute wonder

Psalm 136:1-9,26 NKJV

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. [2] Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. [3] Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever: [4] To Him who alone does great wonders, For His mercy endures forever; [5] To Him who by wisdom made the heavens, For His mercy endures forever; [6] To Him who laid out the earth above the waters, For His mercy endures forever; [7] To Him who made great lights, For His mercy endures forever- [8] The sun to rule by day, For His mercy endures forever; [9] The moon and stars to rule by night, For His mercy endures forever. [26] Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.

So many things that we buy are not made to last - it breaks and we throw it and buy something new.

Clothes wear out, computers fail, phones are outdated - on and on!

Marriage vows are broken, friends betray eachother, leaders show their "feet of clay"- it seems that nothing endures - even our closest family members die and leave a gaping void.

That's one of the reasons I love this Psalm so much. It reassures us over and over again that God's mercy endures forever.

If you ever doubt that the Lord still loves you, just remind yourself of the enduring power of the mercy of the Lord.

State it over and over again until it becomes part of the fabric woven into your soul.

One look at the Cross of Jesus will blot out any lingering uncertainty.

You can't outdo Jesus' salvation with failures - return to the Source of mercy and drink at the Fountain that never will run dry.

O give thanks, my soul, for the mercy that goes on and on into eternity - the mercy found in the beautiful heart of the Lord Jesus - selah.
