Jeremiah 8:12 AMPC

They are brought to shame because they have committed abominations (extremely disgusting and shamefully vile things). And yet they were not at all ashamed, nor could they blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time of their punishment they shall be overthrown, says the Lord.

There is a distinct lack of shame today.

Things that previously would have been kept under wraps are now paraded in arrogance.

Yesterday there was the story, in the paper, of a lady who has had so many affairs with rich, married men, that she has lost count!

She arrogantly boasts about it! Even allowing a half naked picture of herself in the newspaper.

Without any shame, she says that some of the men have bought her jewellery costing thousands of pounds.

She cares not about the damage done to families, and denies being a "home-wrecker", but cares only for her own excitement and pleasure.

The sheer brazen-faced callousness is breath-taking.

It's very true that society has forgotten how to blush and be ashamed.

It's a common thing to see people fighting at petrol pumps - even drawing a knife on another in the clamour to fill up with fuel.

Really, the veil is off humanity now.

We are seeing the ugliness of our fallen nature, the further we turn our backs on God's ways of faithfulness, love and truth.

In the Bible we are warned that a lack of shame would be a sign of the End of Days.

See 2 Timothy 3

It behoves us to walk carefully, knowing that the Lord is watching what we do intently.

It's time for some shame about our behaviour and repentance before it's too late.

James 4:9

As you draw near to God be deeply sorry and grieve, even weep over your unfaithfulness. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame for your sins.
