No other name

Acts 4:12

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

Watching the scenes from "across the pond" in Washington DC - the Trump regalia, flags, t-shirts, banners, baseball caps - parading the name of their hero-president - it seemed that something great was about to happen.

So many folk looking to a mere man for the "salvation" of a nation. The swamp about to be drained, fraud uncovered...

Now, 24 hours later, it seems that the dream is in tatters. Their very hero is being deserted in droves. Ridicule and outrage surrounds his name and supporters.

So, what happened? Can all the blame be placed on socialism, dark spiritual forces in high places? A lack of wisdom? Was there a set up of opposition supporters incognito?

Or, did the gaze become diverted from the only name under heaven given to us by which we must be, or indeed can be saved?

A president, no matter how determined, or charismatic cannot save this world. Men have "feet of clay".

I'm certain many Christians, who had placed much hope in Donald Trump, are now searching for answers. Perhaps the answer comes from what Peter and John proclaimed in front of the Sanhedrin, when they were warned not to preach in Jesus' name.

Read the verse above again - for it holds the key to life.

The singular quality of Jesus, high above any other name is the crux of the issue.

Jesus transcends other so called gods, be it Buddha, Mohammed or any political ideology.

The world needs to return to the only name that can save us: Jesus.

Satan has been hell-bent on deconstructing that name, and has concentrated on making it a swear word and diverting attention toward anyone but Jesus.

The awe, respect and power due to the name of Jesus must be restored. As believers, we can put honour on that name. Time to brace up and stand tall and not be ashamed.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Romans 1:16

May it be said of us in these tumultuous times:

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
