No end

Luke 1:33 AMPC

And He will reign over the house of Jacob throughout the ages; and of His reign there will be no end.

Today is Charles 3rd's coronation day.

The whole land is dominated by this event and it will be watched globally on television.

Yet, one day, just like his mother, he will die and then the throne will pass to his son.

I remember, with great sadness, the moment when Charles took the orb from his mother's coffin at her funeral, signifying that her earthly reign had finished. Her power had passed to another.

But followers of the Lord Jesus, have a king - the King of kings.

His kingdom will have no end.

As yet His Kingdom is unseen, but there is coming a day when He will return to reign here on earth.

For those who who belong to Him, it will be awesome, but a terrible day for those who have scorned His Word & Salvation:

Revelation 19:15-16 NLT

From His mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. [16] On His robe at His thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Whatever our response is to an earthly king, it is vital that we pledge allegiance to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Our earthly monarchs are full of faults and failings, just like we are.

King Jesus alone is worthy.

For a Child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven's Armies will make this happen!
