Never forget

Lamentations 3:20-26 NLT

I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. [21] Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: [22] The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. [23] Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. [24] I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!" [25] The LORD is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. [26] So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.

There are some incidents in life which are so indelibly engraved on our hearts making it impossible to forget.

Only the long tides of time will soften the impact of the sorrow.

Here we are on day seven of the Shiva for our beloved boy.

Dear friends have come to share our tears - recalling their own times of grief.

Those who have been through a similar loss have the deepest compassion - we have felt it in their prayers and the length of their hugs.

Above all the Presence of the LORD continues with an endless supply of new mercy and compassion each and every day and especially during the night seasons of aching sadness.

This precious passage came to me at 3:30am when sleep had deserted me.

Yes, I do remember the loss and the blame I put on myself for the wrong assessment of the situation which led to our great loss.

But the Holy Spirit prompted me to recall God's Word and His infinite wisdom, care and provision in the midst of the most tragic of moments.

This sustains me and causes hope to rise up.

The old hymn based on this passage resonates in the auditorium of my soul as I wait for His salvation:

Great is Thy faithfulness,”

O God my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—

“Great is Thy faithfulness,”

Lord, unto me!

Comfort all who mourn today, Abba Father, with Your great comfort.

Isaiah 40:1 NLT

"Comfort, comfort My people," says your God.
