Psalm 46:1-3 NKJV
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. [2] Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; [3] Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
Sounds pretty fearful - earth shaking, mountains falling, seas roaring - enough to make any human look for some safety.
There is only One refuge when such things happen to the earth, One shelter where we can be free of fear and that is in our Creator God.
What this Psalm speaks of has not yet happened, but cataclysmic events like these are coming, as Jesus predicted.
Luke 21:11 NKJV
And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
We can see the "labour pains" which will birth the great tribulation that will precede the Return of Jesus to set up His Eternal Kingdom.
The natural disasters are plain to see, you only need to switch on the TV to watch these unfolding globally.
The Lord wants us not to fear when these things happen, but to run to Him for safety and strength.
His help isn't faraway but VERY PRESENT.
Jesus promised He will never leave us or forsake us when we trust in Him:
Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
As the times become more and more fraught with danger, run to the Lord and be safe.
