Mystery

Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

It really is a mystery how Jesus, the Christ, actually lives in us as we believe and trust in Him!

But what is this "glory" that we hope for? What's it all about?

“The secret is simply this: Christ in you! Yes, Christ in you - bringing with Him the hope of all glorious things to come.”

The hope of glory is the fulfilment of God’s promise to restore us and all creation (see Romans 8:19–21 and 1 Peter 5:10).

This hope is not a wishful thought, but the confident, expectant, joyful knowledge that we are being changed by God and will one day see Christ face to face, having been conformed to His image.

We hope for the promised new heaven and new earth and the shiny new Jerusalem! That is glorious!

The Holy Spirit is the deposit in our hearts constantly giving witness that the promise will be fulfilled.

Has it dawned on you how privileged we are to "know" these things, to "know" Jesus?

It's a wonderful, mysterious gift.

I've received a clip of my great niece opening her birthday present! She didn't know what it was until she unwrapped it.

In the same way, we hold the wrapped promise of eternity in our hearts. We are told it will be fantastic - one day we will see it!

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, What no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived— God has prepared these things for those who love him.

Can you imagine marvellous incredible things?

Well you can't out imagine God, He will be there to welcome you with: "Surprise"!

Praise

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I can't wait to see what you have in store for eternity. Thank you for putting this "hope of glory" in my heart - all because of Your mercy and grace.
