Much forgiveness, much love!

Luke 7:41-43 NKJV

"There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. [42] And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" [43] Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged."

How much do I value the forgiveness that I have been given by Jesus?

Am I extravagant in my love and thanks to Him.

How much do I appreciate my salvation?

This parable shows the difference between those have been forgiven "small sins" and those who been forgiven "massive" ones.

We tend to evaluate ourselves in comparison with other humans - usually ones that have been notorious evildoers - murderers, paedophiles, prostitues or terrorists.

"I could never be like that!" we think.

Then we are guilty of the first fatal sin: PRIDE - the same feeling that gripped the heart of Lucifer before he fell from his angelic position:

Isaiah 14:12-15 NKJV

"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! [13] For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' [15] Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.

Thinking we can be our own god and declare independence from our Creator is the primal sin of all humanity.

That pride sits incubating within us all - we are born with it and it demonstrates itself in many godless acts throughout our lives.

The "I don't need god" thought will damn the soul for eternity.

Even now there are scientists working on how man and machine can join and become "immortal" - ignoring the supremacy of the Lord and the only way to eternal life via Yeshua our Messiah.

Therefore it's a good spiritual health check to come before God and pray:

Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; [24] And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
