Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The UK Government has just increased the minimum wage for workers. No one should be paid less than that per hour.
It is intended to lift folk out of poverty and be strictly enforced so no one slips through the loop.
God has a "minimum wage" too - one that every sinner receives - "Death"!
Ezekiel 18:4 NKJV
"Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.
The Lord is an equal pay employer. Everyone gets their wages - only some have to wait longer than others to receive them.
This is a gloomy "sword of Damocles" we await, not ever knowing when it will strike.
Think you haven't sinned?
Look at this long list of attributes which we must have in order to "live" and not earn those dreaded wages:
Ezekiel 18:5-9 NKJV
But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right; [6] If he has not eaten on the mountains, Nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, Nor defiled his neighbor's wife, Nor approached a woman during her impurity; [7] If he has not oppressed anyone, But has restored to the debtor his pledge; Has robbed no one by violence, But has given his bread to the hungry And covered the naked with clothing; [8] If he has not exacted usury Nor taken any increase, But has withdrawn his hand from iniquity And executed true judgment between man and man; [9] If he has walked in My statutes And kept My judgments faithfully- He is just; He shall surely live!" Says the Lord GOD.
Only Jesus lived like that.
He achieved what no other human ever could and then laid His life down voluntarily as our death penalty.
To those who believe He gives the gift of eternal life - for free!
There are no sins that disqualify anyone from receiving this gift.
We lay those sins down at the Cross and are freely pardoned forever.
It's all because of Jesus' great love and mercy.
Go out into today as a free soul in Him! Hallelujah.
Who is a pardoning God like thee, or who has grace so rich and free!
Micah 7:18 NKJV
Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.
