Luke 1:46-49 NKJV
And Mary said: "My soul magnifies the Lord, [47] And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. [49] For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And Holy is His Name.
Be in no doubt Mary desired to exalt the Lord and not to be worshipped herself.
If she could pass on a message today, she would point you towards Jesus her Son.
Here we read of her worshipping the Lord and seeing herself as just a lowly servant.
Certainly she was a special woman, who had found favour in God's eyes. She is called blessed because of this.
Yet it was still an honour bestowed and not earned.
Imagine the privilege of rearing the Son of God! He suckled at her breast, she carried Him in her womb as He became flesh and blood.
What was it like when the Holy Spirit overshadowed her to conceive the Messiah?
These are Holy mysteries indeed.
But the magnifying glass of worship is to be firmly focussed on the Lord, not frail flesh of humanity be it ever so blessed
As the Word says:
Acts 4:12 NKJV
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Let's join with Mary in the worship of Jesus our precious Saviour.
