Living on benefits

Psalm 68:19-20,35 NKJV

Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah [20] Our God is the God of salvation; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death. [35] O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God.

There are many unemployed who are paid "Universal credit" by the UK Government and live from this handout.

It is not something to be proud of and, many could actually find a job and fend for themselves.

However, we all (whether we like it or not) live off of the benefits that our Heavenly Father daily bestows on us.

Matthew 5:44-45 NKJV

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, [45] that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

He "lends" us our breath, sends the rain, fills the earth with seed time and harvest.

Our bodies have this inbuilt immune system to fight off disease and injury.

None of this is self perpetuated, it is God who opens His Hands to give us life.

He planned to give new eternal life through Jesus, the Son.

That salvation is freely offered to all who believe and receive. Like Universal Credit, it has to be claimed individually - it won't just fall into our laps.

Today praise the Lord that we can really live on His Benefits.

Psalm 103:1-2 NKJV

Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! [2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:

Linger a while amidst the tumult of this world, block out its angry noise, and rejoice in the benefits of knowing Jesus.
