Let us run

Song of Solomon 1:4 NLT

Take me with you; come, let's run! The king has brought me into his bedroom.

Watching my nearest and dearest with our new puppy is really like a little love story between the two of them.

From the first waking moment our pup is on the bed and they both have a good cuddle, with the pup licking and play biting him all over.

They run together when out for a walk and he loves to show the pup off to any passers by.

It's a joy to behold.

The relationship we are called to have with the Lord is meant to be like that - a joyous union between Creator and created!

Too often we think of God as a strict, stern schoolmaster, ready with the cane to punish us or like an aloof judge without care or understanding.

It's so far from the case.

Hear the heart of Jesus:

Matthew 23:37 NLT

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me.

Jesus wants to gather us to Himself, for protection and shelter and for sheer love.

He wants to run with us, to draw us after Him, to be close and intimate.

Don't be like Peter when he first encountered Jesus and His miraculous power:

Luke 5:8 NLT

When Simon Peter realised what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, "Oh, Lord, please leave me-I'm such a sinful man."

Jesus is familiar with our faults and failings and He has made His sacrificial provision for our sinful nature via the Cross.

He just wants to run with us and draw us ever closer after Him.

Run with Him in the power of the Holy Spirit today.

Let Him bring you into His Presence, wash and cleanse you and shower His love on you.

Our little pup is learning to come when we call his name - listen out - Jesus is calling your name too.

Revelation 22:17 NLT

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let anyone who hears this say, "Come." Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.
