Hebrews 11:32-34 AMPC
And what shall I say further? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, [33] Who by [the help of] faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions, [34] Extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devourings of the sword, out of frailty and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts.
With upcoming elections at home and in the USA, the focus is on political leaders.
We are invited to evaluate and then vote for whoever we "guess" will lead our countries with honesty, truth and fairness.
What a task!
Then factor in subterfuge - media interference and there appears a pile of chaotic hogwash to sift through.
Scripture shows us "heroes" of faith in the Lord who became famous leaders.
None of them were perfect, indeed, Gideon actually declared his smallness and weakness:
Judges 6:15 AMPC
Gideon said to Him, Oh Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
So, as we assess our "would be" leaders we should judge according to how the Lord sees them. Look at what they stand for.
What is their track record on their beliefs? Are they consistently consistent, or do they flip flop around with public opinion?
True leaders stay true to their conscience in spite of opposition.
Above all pray for wisdom as you vote and vote from your God-given spirit.
Yet remember, no matter who wins elections, we have a coming King of kings and Lord of lords, who will reign in righteousness - the Lord Jesus:
Isaiah 32:1-5 AMPC
Behold, a King will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice. [2] And each one of them shall be like a hiding place from the wind and a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land [to those who turn to them]. [3] Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed or dimmed, and the ears of those who hear will listen. [4] And the mind of the rash will understand knowledge and have good judgment, and the tongue of the stammerers will speak readily and plainly. [5] The fool (the unbeliever and the ungodly) will no more be called noble, nor the crafty and greedy [for gain] said to be bountiful and princely.
Hallelujah what a day that will be!
