Knowledge

Genesis 2:15-17 NLT

The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. [16] But the LORD God warned him, "You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden- [17] except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die."

Man's search for knowledge is primeval and intrinsically insatiable. That's why there are scientists, philosophers, designers, universities, libraries of books upon books down the ages.

But we have a fallen propensity within our DNA that was birthed from disobedience to the first instruction that the Lord God gave to Adam in the Garden of Eden.

Eat of every tree, except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 3 tells that indeed Eve first and after Adam ate that forbidden fruit.

The consequences of that lethal tasting are with every human being from then on - DEATH.

The thirst for more and more knowledge has led to many good outcomes, but evil intent has also given the ability to destroy this earth via nuclear weapons and other nefarious means.

Knowledge that is harnessed with evil intentions leads to "holocaustic" outcomes.

If you read the history of Zyklon B, it was originally intended as a pesticide for delousing and fumigating - a good result.

Yet the evil harnessing of that material led to an industrial genocide - the murder of 6 million plus people.

It's not bad to be educated, but to exalt the quest for knowledge above all else is a dead end.

The best of science has been propagated by humans who put good of humanity first, often those who called themselves Christian.

It's wise to remember this:

1 Corinthians 8:1-2 NKJV

We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. [2] And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.

1 Corinthians 13:8 NKJV

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

Long to know God first and the rest will begin to make sense!
