Psalm 2:12 AMPC
Kiss the Son [pay homage to Him in purity], lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for soon shall His wrath be kindled. O blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in Him!
What a verse, sitting right there in the Old Testament - what's it doing there?
In the midst of the Old Covenant belief that:
Deuteronomy 6:4 AMPC
Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord [the only Lord]......
....Here is the command to "Kiss the Son"
It's one of the many pointers found in Scripture, to the Lord Jesus being eternally one with the Father.
Read the whole of Psalm 2 and we get the picture of the awesome power of Jesus and how He is going to subdue the nations (and boy do they need to be subdued).
At the moment people freely use His name as a curse word and blaspheme His Deity, but a rude awakening is coming.
No gentle Jesus meek and mild at His Return.
O no, He's coming back in full Godhead Majesty and power to put down all human rebellion against His Kingdom.
As He warned the Jewish leaders at His trial:
Matthew 26:63-64 AMPC
But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, I call upon you to swear by the living God, and tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God. [64] Jesus said to him, You have stated [the fact]. More than that, I tell you: You will in the future see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Almighty and coming on the clouds of the sky.
So it's important now to be on the right side of His-story - "kiss the Son", recognise Him, realise who He is, and give Him the honour and worship due to Him.
There's great reward and blessings found in trusting in Him, ready for His appearing in the clouds.
