Judgement is coming!

Revelation 6:12-17 AMPC

When He [the Lamb] broke open the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun grew black as sackcloth of hair, [the full disc of] the moon became like blood. [13] And the stars of the sky dropped to the earth like a fig tree shedding its unripe fruit out of season when shaken by a strong wind. [14] And the sky rolled up like a scroll and vanished, and every mountain and island was dislodged from its place. [15] Then the kings of the earth and their noblemen and their magnates and their military chiefs and the wealthy and the strong and [everyone, whether] slave or free hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, [16] And they called to the mountains and the rocks, Fall on (before) us and hide us from the face of Him Who sits on the throne and from the deep-seated indignation and wrath of the Lamb. [17] For the great day of His wrath (vengeance, retribution, indignation) has come, and who is able to stand before it?

Watching a movie called "Greenland" put me in mind of this passage in Revelation - people running trying to escape from disasters raining down from the heavens.

The movie is fictional, but Revelation speaks of events which will come on the earth for sure.

Judgement is coming.

There are people around the throne of God, who were martyred, asking: "How long" before their blood is avenged - Revelation 6:10

The Lord is very patient, not willing that any should perish 2 Peter 3:9.

Yet a time of judgement is appointed where the Judge of all will mete out justice without corruption or bias, in complete fairness.

2 Peter 3:10 AMPC

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish (pass away) with a thunderous crash, and the [material] elements [of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.

In that film, people eagerly left behind their material possessions in order to flee to safety, only survival mattered.

In the cold light of day, when disaster strikes, either spiritually or physically, then material possessions pale into insignificance.

The nonfictional "Day of the Lord" IS coming and we need to hold fast to Jesus, our only place of safety.

Let us judge ourselves before the Cross of Jesus to ensure that we escape the coming wrath on the earth.

But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly [recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behaviour], we would not be judged.

1 Corinthians 11:31

Thought

Have I judged myself in the light of God's Truth?
