Jesus takes note of how we treat Him

Luke 7:39,44-50 NKJV

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." [44] Then Jesus turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. [45] You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. [46] You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. [47] Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." [48] Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." [49] And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" [50] Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

What we say in our heart matters.

Jesus takes note of EVERYTHING.

No "AI" is involved, but the Almighty Intelligence is always at work, sifting through the motives and intents of our hearts and minds.

We may fool people, but Jesus knows us absolutely and He takes note of it all.

This Pharisee had obviously invited Jesus to find what this "upstart" preacher was all about.

He was curious, but disdainfully discourteous - when Jesus arrived he dispensed with the usual nicesties afforded to an honoured guest.

He thought he was doing Jesus a favour by allowing Him into his house!

Jesus astutely assesses the situation, honours the woman with forgiveness and chides the Pharisee for His lack of respect and ignorance of his own unworthiness before God.

What do I think of Jesus in my heart?

Am I affording Him the honour and love He deserves?

Or, am I too busy looking down on a forgiven "sinner" who is lavishing extravagant worship and adoration on Jesus?

He so deserves all the honour, praise and glory.
