Isaiah 35:3-7 AMPC
Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble and tottering knees. [4] Say to those who are of a fearful and hasty heart, Be strong, fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance; with the recompense of God He will come and save you. [5] Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. [6] Then shall the lame man leap like a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. [7] And the burning sand and the mirage shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lay resting, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
I don't need to tell you that it's been heating up this week. First we moan about the rain, then we moan about the heat - always something to gripe about!
But actually we were created for praise and worship.
Someone said to me recently: "Don't you get fed up of the parts of the Bible which repeats about praising the Lord?"
I relied: "You don't understand because you don't know Him. You haven't experienced salvation."
Let's put it this way - when you support a football team - you join in the "worship" by singing the anthems created on the terraces.
Take for instance the famous song sung at Anfield by the Liverpool fans "You'll never walk alone". It unites both the fans and players as one and is emotionally motivational for the match.
When a goal is scored or a great save is made, fans sing "in worship". They never get tired of supporting their team.
Of course, if you're not a supporter, you will never understand the scenes of ecstasy when a match or trophy is won.
Jesus won an eternal victory over Death and Hell on the Cross and He personally saved me. So each day I rejoice in His tender care.
I know that, though the world is heating up, at exactly the right time He will come to set things straight.
This inspires courage to keep on keeping on in the face of hard circumstances.
There's coming a huge praise party when the lame will leap, the blind will see, the deaf will hear.
Even so come Lord Jesus.
