Ever since I was a little kid I remember Israel dominating the news.
In my mind's eye I can picture clips on black & white TV of Golda Meir (marvelling at her ugly, masculine face)
and Moshe Dayan
with his eye patch.
Of course, I didn't realise the significance of the tiny state of Israel at that time or of the Six Day War in 1967, when Jerusalem was regained!
Today Israel still dominates the headlines and is an object of scorn and prejudice for many.
Even some bogus teachings skew scripture to say that God has rejected the Jews!
To such as those I would gently and respectfully refer them to Romans chapters 9 to 11 - a long, but worthwhile read - the conclusion of which is:
Romans 11:1-2 I ask, then, has God rejected his own people, the nation of Israel? Of course not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham and a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
No, God has not rejected his own people, whom he chose from the very beginning.
Personally, I have come on a long road of discovery to see how God has plans and promises for Israel that are yet to be fulfilled.
We are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and be watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6).
Let's pray for a time of this prophecy to be fulfilled:
Zechariah 12:10 AMPC And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favour and supplication. And they shall look [earnestly] upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Mark this verse in your Bible and prepare to see a great breakthrough in the Land turning to Yeshua their Messiah. Be part of the accomplishment by praying for Israel and standing with them.
Can you imagine the joy of Jesus' heart when His people, the ones He came for first, recognise Him?
He was so sad that they didn't accept Him the first time:
Matthew 23:37
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.
Yet the story hasn't ended - what God promises WILL happen.
