Isaiah 42:1-3 AMPC
Behold My Servant, Whom I uphold, My elect in Whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice and right and reveal truth to the nations. [2] He will not cry or shout aloud or cause His voice to be heard in the street. [3] A bruised reed He will not break, and a dimly burning wick He will not quench; He will bring forth justice in truth.
When the embers of our wood burner have burned low, being heavy handed and chucking a huge log on top is the last thing needed. It would extinguish what flame there is left.
No, a gentle approach is required to coax the fire back into life. Perhaps some kindling and some air blown gently on it will breathe new energy and ignite the fire again!
Aren't you glad that our Lord Jesus isn't heavy handed as He deals with our lives?
This prophecy about Him quoted in Matthew 12:20 reveals the gentleness of Jesus as He deals with us weak and failing followers.
Sometimes we're like the wood burner - burned out - about to lose the flame of faith. Then we find His Holy Spirit coaxing us - fanning the smouldering embers in our faith and ever so gently igniting the divine fire once more.
If the candle of belief has reduced to a smoulder, Jesus knows, He cares and is expert in bringing back that eternal flame to your life.
Giver Him access to your inner being and watch the miracle of new life at work in you.
He won't give up until the job is done!
Isaiah 42:4 AMPC
He will not fail or become weak or be crushed and discouraged till He has established justice in the earth; and the islands and coastal regions shall wait hopefully for Him and expect His direction and law.
Father God, for all who are barely hanging on, breathe new life into them by the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' Name.
